About Your Flowers

Most grocery store flowers never
touched American soil.

Over 80% of cut flowers sold in the US are imported — primarily from Colombia, Ecuador, and Kenya. They spend days in refrigerated cargo, treated with pesticides that are banned in the United States. By the time they reach the grocery store, they've crossed an ocean and been chemically preserved just to look fresh.

Meet the People
Behind the Farm

Two people, one piece of land, two different passions — rooted in the same belief that the best things in life are grown, not bought.

Janeen Parker
Janeen Parker
Founder & Farmer · Fields of Abundance
"I started with a windowsill of houseplants and ended up with five acres of farmland. Funny how passion works."

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Janeen found her way to San Diego after graduating from Bowling Green State University — and there, something shifted. She fell in love with the organic farm movement: a culture of small growers woven into wellness, food, and environmental stewardship. At one point she had over 100 houseplants, and when 2020 arrived and the world went quiet, her personal garden became a lifeline.

What started as a reason to get outside blossomed into something she couldn't ignore. As her passion deepened, Janeen and her husband made a bold decision: sell everything, buy an RV, and spend two years traveling across 40 states in search of the place they'd put down roots.

They fell in love with the Greenville area, and in 2025 purchased 5 acres in Belton, SC — and immediately started building the farm of their dreams. Fields of Abundance is that dream, rooted in the belief that growing food and flowers is one of the most meaningful things a person can do.

Janeen is also a certified herbalist since 2024, deepening her connection to the land and the healing power of the plants she grows.

🍞Baker & Founder
Gene White
Founder · Ol' Spirit Bakery
"It started with a cast iron pan, a sourdough starter, and nowhere to be. That's all it takes."

When Gene and Janeen sold everything and hit the road full-time in 2023, baking was the last thing on his mind. But somewhere between endless highway miles and quiet nights parked in the middle of nowhere, he needed something to do with his hands.

He started with a simple sourdough loaf — no proper oven, just a cast iron and patience. It came out perfect. He was hooked. He picked up a sourdough starter on their travels through Austin, TX, baked 10 loaves for friends back in San Diego, and never looked back.

By the time they put down roots in Belton, South Carolina, the baking had become something serious. Now it has a name — Ol' Spirit Bakery, named for his golden retriever Spirit. He was a pure soul who gave unconditional love to everyone he met, and Gene wanted to honor him by showing the community that same love through every loaf, every cookie, and everything he bakes.
